GOOD MORNING READERS AND FELLOW BLOGGERS, MAY THIS BLOG FIND YOU IN GREAT SPIRITS!
Today I would like to dedicate my blog to “FRIDAY FORUM”, where I open up my blog to hear views and opinions from you all. I ask that we all are respectable to others views and agree to disagree, if that is the case. I will ask a total of three questions, that I will answer and give you the opportunity to share your answer as well!
When the time comes that your parents are no longer able to care for themselves, will you move them in with you or place them in an assisted living/nursing home?
I have unfortunately had to make this choice already with my father before he passed. My parents will always and only reside with me, despite my siblings reluctance. The only exception would be in the case where care was needed more in a hospital, than I could provide at home for my parents!
What are some of the challenges that adult children may face when their parents get older and need more care?
Understanding that our parents are already set in their ways, we must be mindful that they are the parent and not the child. Taking that into consideration, some challenges will include: refusing to be helped more, not wanting to share medical issues with family, weakened stability of limbs and joints, loss of hearing, not wanting to leave their home or let family live with them!
What are some things that adult children or family members can do, to help the family transition any needed care for an elder or parent, on a regular basis into their lifestyle?
Some strategies to help the family transition are, constant communication on the subject of loved ones getting older and being aware that a change is present. Create several tasks and duties to family members that involve some interaction with elder love ones. In addition, observe and record any noticeable changes or issues. Implement regular family gatherings, that allow the family to create lasting memories. Take individual times with the elder love one, on a one on one basis for yourself!
I HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED MY “FRIDAY FORUM”, AND UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, BE SAFE AND HAVE AN AWESOME DAY!
